For the past 20+ years, Electralloy, G.O. Carlson, Inc. has sponsored an essay award program, which is available to all seniors in Venango County Schools. The employees at Electralloy provide suggestions for an essay topic and letters are sent to all the schools in Venango County with the essay information.
This year, the Coronavirus made this process a little more challenging than usual. All schools in Pennsylvania were closed, but Electralloy was determined to continue to offer the 2020 graduating seniors the opportunity to participate in the essay program. With the help of the local school counselors reaching out to their seniors, the response was great and it lead to another successful year. This year the topic was:
“As this generation exits the workforce to retire, what suggestions do you have to bridge the gap and assist with the transfer of knowledge during the transitional period?”
The essays received at Electralloy were judged by a panel of judges consisting of Tom Wood (VP of Operations & Technology at Electralloy), Joe Paparone (VP Finance - CFO at Electralloy), and Betsy Kellner (Director Venango Museum of Arts, Science and Industry).
The four grand prize winners for the 2020 Essay Awards are:
Caleb Gardner Oil City Senior High School
Tyler Seelnacht Venango Technology Center
Carly Calderone Franklin Senior High School
Matthew McQuaide Cranberry Senior High School
Each of these students received a $500 check from Electralloy along with an award certificate and an Electralloy memento. Congratulations to all!
